N70 Hiluxes are still out there doing the hard yards. The ModCAP System for the Toyota Hilux N70 (2005–2015) gives one a modern modular canopy that can become a pop-top camper, and that adds plenty of useful life to an older ute.
The idea is simple: one base, interchangeable tops. The Canopy, Compact, Camper and Family variants all fit the same ModCAP base. Most owners start with the flat-roof canopy, add the Compact when weekends away pick up, and step up to the full-size Camper or Family when the trips get longer. There's no rebuilding from scratch.
The system is made specifically for the N70 Hilux's body, tub dimensions and mounting points, and it mounts directly to the tub. That avoids the problems drop-in liners cause and keeps the structure strong. Depending on the variant, expect around 110–250kg and 730–955mm above the tub, low enough to keep the N70 stable and practical day to day.
