Choosing a rack for a rooftop tent
The rack's own weight counts towards your vehicle's dynamic (driving) roof load limit, and so does everything else on the roof. The lowest-rated part (the vehicle roof, the rack or the feet) sets the real limit. The static (parked) rating is what carries a tent with people inside. Load bars keep weight down. A platform gives more room for an awning, recovery boards and other gear. On dual cabs, a tub rack or an Alu-Cab canopy can carry a tent over the tray.
Fitting
Load bars plus tent fitting starts from $500, and tent fitting onto two existing load bars from $300, on products we supply. Platform racks are quoted for your vehicle. We only fit racks and tents we supply.
