Jessi from Adventure Merchants weekend in Kosciuszko National Park!. At Adventure Merchants and Outfitters, we don't just talk the talk - we walk the walk. With our trusty TD5, Smokey, loaded up with all the essential gear, we set out on a journey through the Australian Winter Snow Pilgrimage.
Our first stop was Island Bend Campground, a hidden gem boasting breathtaking views and the perfect ambience for restless sleepers. After setting up our well-travelled Feldon shelter and cracking open some Bilpin Hillbilly ciders, we kicked back and enjoyed the first patches of blue sky all day.
Equipped with top-of-the-line gear, including a Dometic fridge-freezer and Front Runner Wolf Pack Pro, we were ready for anything that came our way. We even brought along a trusty Primus stove and Navigator Camp Chairs to make our stay even more comfortable.
The highlight of our trip was undoubtedly the 26km Mt Kosciuszko round loop trail. We braved the elements and conquered the mountain, with stunning views and challenging terrain at every turn. We encountered swarms of flies along the way and recommend bringing an insect head net to make the journey a little more manageable.
Back at camp, we cooked up a storm over the fire, preparing potatoes, steak, and garlic butter with assorted herbs. We shared good food, drinks, and banter with our neighbours, celebrating our successful hike and the beauty of the great outdoors.
Our adventure didn't stop there - we headed to Yarrangobilly pools to freshen up in the naturally occurring thermal springs, kept clean by symbiotic algae. We even checked out the Yarrangobilly caves and picked juicy wild blackberries along the river.
As we headed home, we stopped in Talbingo to grab ingredients for warm roast chicken sandwiches, savouring the memories of our incredible weekend in Kosciuszko National Park. Whether you're a seasoned adventurer or a weekend warrior, there's always something to discover in the Snowy Mountains.
